Time is swiftly moving closer to our event. If you haven't signed up, there is still some time left!

Here are some of the speakers and their subjects that will be provided:

Of course Wayne Joseph who is a retired business man, understands the comparisons of "endurance", as it relates to staying in business. He will consider these as they also relate to safety; training, protective equipment, mind set, rules, group support,  emergency awareness, vision, preparedness, understanding your limitations, what it means to get correct feedback so as to continue.

RiskSolution Partners, Tracy Lawson-"Foundation for Safety Excellence" Before you can "run the distance", when it comes to safety, you have to lay the foundation on which everything else is built on. What are the "building blocks"? What about the safety program? What takes more importance than another? What can you leave out? What are some tools to use?

Gaspro, (two speakers) Robert Yong- "Living on the E.D.G.E." will be presenting how that in these times, ever changing market, and such has affected them, and what steps have they taken in their training, inspections, people preparedness,  so as to continue for the long haul. Find out what the acronym E.D.G.E. stands for...

Jas Singh, lives here on the island, yet works in the Orient. His discussion will be on "Global Safety Chain- It's impact on the Safety and Health profession"

John Drummond with Civil Defense, will discuss anatomy of what we all should review on a timely basis, as it relates to emergency preparedness mind set, tools will be offered.

Michael Gomes with Willocks Construction, will discuss, "Introducing people to work: Pre-Hire, Behavior aspects, Ongoing changes..."

Don't forget, too, there will be a few short local films included with the program!
=================================
O
ur upcoming conference is entitled:

“Safety and Running a Marathon”

The spin on this is as it relates to "Safety and Running a Marathon", is that there are common similarities for businesses STAYING in business and long term employees, staying long term.

Location: Anna Perry Ranch in Waimea

Time: November 21st 2008 8:30 am (Not too early, just enough for whether you are in Kona or Hilo to get there in plenty of time.) 2:00 pm (great for getting out early to beat the traffic.

Businesses have to provide good Management support, and too, the people or workers, employees must be factored into this equation.

A company is nothing without its employees. Thus the need to adapt to changes, and not just assume that because we have told them to, or trained them to, and given them a manual to, that they really have got it or understand it, or can really or readily apply it.

Stress, mental, emotional and physical plays a big part for sure. There are many avenues that amplify the need for being able to adapt management and employees.

Environmental changes, physical and mental compromises, business and economic climate, procedures, training, all play a part.

We like to think that once we have a safety and health program in place then that's it. Training's and procedures, figured out, that's it. Once given, they WILL get it.

Of course that's not what happens. Performing measurements and constant feedback plus evaluations, and sensitivity to people and business, for finding that safety culture and fluidity are absolutely necessary for what really works. This presents ongoing challenges.

How though?

Support, shifts as employees lives change or react, i.e. getting married, being single again due to death of spouse or family member, or otherwise, are ongoing factors.

Anyway, I know as always there are no perfect answers, and we all fall short to some degree. What are the challenges? What are the successes? What is working? What are the failures? What is the vision, and what are you adapting to stay in a forward moving motion?

These are all the things that that make it real for something others can take away and learn from.

Of course you are coming to conference to learn, but know that what you share, what you ask as questions, the things we ALL learn from are also from YOU.

Indeed, everything is in a flux.

So being sensitive to these areas, such as training, ensuring being adaptive, repetition, and measurement "markers" so to speak, these help evaluate and continue to see "ahead" and learn from "behind" (hind sight).

So come to the conference at Anna Perry Ranch, (the cows will contentedly and quietly dine on open range grass to add to their diet).

Experience the cool trade winds, (don't fall asleep)

Listen to the speakers, and watch films of locals (enjoy)

Be ready to enjoy both Breakfast and Lunch! (Really enjoy)

We'll have door prizes (not over the top)

Are you ready to go 26.2 miles of the conference to receive your medal of completion? (Be proud to wear it)

Are you ready to go 26.2 miles of the conference to receive your T-shirt? (Remember to state your size, medium or large)

Remember: There are only 80 seats available. First come, first serve. Reserve NOW, and don't miss out!
